Its destiny calling

The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah – telling Him to buy the field that belonged to his cousin Anathoth. He later confirmed the word when actually the cousin came and asked to sell the land. Ouch, how do you buy land when the nation has been pledged for destruction by the Babylonians? The same Jerry who was prophesying with passion in obedience to the coming judgement from a sovereign God to His people whose hearts had been sold against their God and king.

“The word of the LORD came to me: Hanamel son of Shallum your uncle is going to come to you and say, ‘Buy my field at Anathoth, because as nearest relative it is your right and duty to buy it.” Jer 32:6

Here he was buying land and sealing the deeds as a testimony of faith and the promised future God has promised to His people where He will restore His nation.

He obeyed and the results were marvellous. It brought out the purposes of God and history was fulfilled. After the exile, Israelites bought back the land.
“Once more fields will be bought in this land of which you say, ‘It is a desolate waste, without men or animals, for it has been handed over to the Babylonians. Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed…” Jer 32:43-44

The simple tasks that may not make human sense, are what God uses to cheer us on – when we see Him fulfil it, it gives confidence that He fulfils His purposes.

“Then, just as the LORD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me… “I knew that this was the word of the LORD.. so I bought the field..Jer 32:8-9

It makes us more prompt to respond to Him as a relationship is nurtured as we consistently obey His voice.

Pray to Him for them

Pray to Him for them

Do not do that! Why did you go there again?” is constant query.

Many a times, I find myself wanting to know exactly every detail of the person under my care. But then I quickly realize there is one who watches over them – their father and God. I am better placed to offer a prayer for them since the need is explicit before me and yet it may not be so real to them – I cannot change them but can influence their courses of action through prayer… continually remembering them in my prayers. He who hears prayer will work in ways my words cannot and will not. He created them so he deeply knows them and cares.

He hears prayer…
